Founded on Principle
Calibour was founded in 2014 in Traben-Trarbach, Germany, with a clear mission: to provide secure, private, and resilient internet infrastructure to those who need it most.
Although our early history includes some controversial chapters, they were rooted in a deep belief in data sovereignty and anonymous access to the internet. Principles that have remained at the core of everything we do. Over the years, our team has grown, evolved, and matured, but our commitment to those founding ideals has never wavered.
No Suits. Just Backbone.
Today, Calibour operates in Germany and The Netherlands. We are a small team of seasoned engineers with deep, hands-on experience across systems, software, and network infrastructure. We have been doing this long enough to know what matters and what does not.
We are not backed by investors. We are not driven by growth targets or short-term profits. We are here because we care about the internet and the people who rely on it.
Infrastructure with Purpose
Calibour does not offer hosting to the general public. We provide infrastructure to projects we believe are worth supporting.
That means projects focused on a free and open internet. Independent journalism and freedom of the press. Open source software that anyone can inspect, use, and build on. Federated and decentralised systems that reduce reliance on centralised platforms. And tools that put privacy back in the hands of the people using them.
